Supported Platforms and Development Tools

The target platforms are the latest 32/64-bit Microsoft Windows operating systems, currently Windows 7/8/8.1 and Windows Server 2008 R2/2012/2012 R2. Windows Vista is also still supported.

The latest releases of Qwined Technical Editor do not support older operating system versions. We understand some of our users may still be dependant of older operating systems, such as Windows XP or Windows Server 2003. Therefore Qwined Technical Editor 2008, Qwined Classic, is available at the download page.

All Qwined.org software is developed with Microsoft Visual Studio 2013. All the setup programs are developed with InstallAware Admin Studio for Windows Installer and are MSI packaged.

The Qwined SDK is mainly written in C++ with C Call Interface - with some lower level parts in plain C. The Qwined SDK is certified only with Microsoft Visual Studio 2013. The latest Service Packs and updates are always recommended.

None of the older Microsoft Visual Studio versions are officially supported. Even though they should work properly they are not tested or used in the Qwined development.

If Qwined libraries are accessed dynamically, any programming language supporting C style API calls should work without any additional configuration.

Qwined SQL command line works with over ten different database systems, depending on the database client libraries installed on the system.
